On October 14,Director, Center for Security, Strategy and Policy Research (CSSPR), Dr. Rabia Akhtar, shared her thoughts on Pakistan- United States relations at a webtalk with Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Amb. Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, organized by the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI). Highlighting the import of taking advantage of an era marked by no tags and prisms in Pak-U.S. relations, be they related to Afghanistan or India, Dr. Akhtar said Pakistan must focus on building its economy and enhancing the prospect of regional connectivity through strengthening its regional alliances. She asserted: “It is absolutely okay not to have a strategic dialogue with the U.S.” She stated that, by constantly urging the U.S. to engage with the Taliban, or play a lead role in Afghanistan, Pakistan itself is shrinking space for it to take on a leadership role in the region.
