This path-breaking event was partnered with Nuclear Proliferation International History Project (NPIHP) of Woodrow Wilson Center, a non-partisan Washington D.C. based institute for advanced studies. The conference was convened to discuss comparative nuclear historical perspectives and to train Pakistani academics and research scholars working on South Asian nuclear issues to understand comparative historical contexts. The event was attended by a number of government officials, academics and researchers interested in nuclear history. The participants of the conference agreed on the critical importance of access to archival sources to historical understanding of nuclear policy issues, however, they also highlighted the challenges of such a discourse given the novelty of archivally-based approaches especially in the Pakistani context. The conference speakers included Prof. Dr. Rifaat Hussain, Mr. Khalid Banuri, Dr. Rabia Akhtar, Ms. Salma Malik, Dr. Adil Sultan, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Dr. Zafar Khan, and Ms. Sadia Tasleem.
