Talk by Ms. Haruka Isono
On May 08, 2017, CSSPR hosted a talk by Ms. Haruka Isono, CSSPR Visiting Research Fellow from Japan and Scholar in Residence at UoL on 'Japan's Nuclear Export Policy and Fukushima Disaster: Lessons for Pakistan'. Lecture was attended by officials from Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) and CSSPR research fellows, faculty and students from the School of Integrated Social Sciences.
Ejaz Haider's Talk
The UOL Center for Security, Strategy and Policy Research housed in the School of Integrated Social Sciences hosted Ejaz Haider, National Security Editor at Capital TV and talk show host 'BayLaag' on May 02, 2017 for a talk on 'Pakistan's National Security Challenges'. The talk was attended by the faculty and students of the School of Integrated Social Sciences along with the faculty and students of the Mass Communication department in the School of Creative Arts.

Nuclear Non-proliferation International History Project (NPIHP)
LAHORE – The Center for Security, Strategy and Policy Research at the University of Lahore hosted Pakistan’s first-ever international conference and workshop on ‘Comparative Nuclear History’ on Oct 30-31. This path-breaking event was partnered with Nuclear Proliferation International History Project (NPIHP) of Woodrow Wilson Center, a non-partisan Washington D.C. based institute for advanced studies. The conference was convened to discuss comparative nuclear historical perspectives and to train Pakistani academics and research scholars working on South Asian nuclear issues to understand comparative historical contexts. The event was attended by a number of government officials, academics and researchers interested in nuclear history. The participants of the conference agreed on the critical importance of access to archival sources to historical understanding of nuclear policy issues, however, they also highlighted the challenges of such a discourse given the novelty of archivally-based approaches especially in the Pakistani context. The conference speakers included Prof. Dr. Rifaat Hussain, Mr. Khalid Banuri, Dr. Rabia Akhtar, Ms. Salma Malik, Dr. Adil Sultan, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Dr. Zafar Khan, and Ms. Sadia Tasleem. The NPIHP-sponsored group included notable scholars from the United States and Europe, led by Dr. Christian Ostermann, Prof. Dr. David Holloway, Dr. Mahsa Rouhi, Dr. Giordana Pulccini and Mr. Evan Pikulski. The keynote speakers at the conference Mr. Ahmer Bilal Soofi, President Research Society of International Law and Mr. Khalid Banuri, Director General Arms Control and Disarmament Directorate at the Strategic Plans Division provided the legal and practitioner’s perspective on the theme of the conference.

CSSPR at University of Lahore Hosted its First in-house Round Table with Five Member Team from China CACDA.
The Centre for Security, Strategy and Policy Research (CSSPR) at University of Lahore hosted its first in-house roundtable with five member team from China Arms Control and Disarmament Association (CACDA) on Friday, October 16. The high powered delegation from CACDA was led by Ambassador Sha Zukang, Honorary President of CACDA, Mr. Chen Kai, Vice President and Secretary General of CACDA, Ambassador Li Changhe, Senior Adviser to CACDA, Mr. Liu Xiaoming, Director of the Secretariat of CACDA and Mr. Gu Zhongmao. The roundtable was attended by Ms. Wajeeha Raoof, Pro-Rector Social Sciences, Dr. Asrar-ul-Haq Sheikh, Rector, Dr. Hanan Mian, Dean Social Sciences and Dr. Rabia Akhtar, Director CSSPR. Dr. Akhtar briefed the CACDA delegation about CSSPR's vision and objectives and both sides discussed possible areas of research collaboration, exchange of scholars and networking opportunities in areas of mutual interest.
